OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Jessica Garvin, R-Duncan, represents some of the areas hardest hit by Wednesday night’s tornadoes. As of Thursday morning, two of the state's three fatalities had been reported in Cole and others were injured. After the storms hit, she immediately went to the communities of Cole, Goldsby, and Washington.

Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman, released the following statement Wednesday following the governor’s veto of Senate Bill 1130. Boren voted to override the governor’s veto of SB 1130 to balance the power of the executive branch.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, today issued the following statement after the Senate voted 45-to-2, overriding Governor Kevin Stitt’s veto of Senate Bill 1130.

Senate Bill 1130 essentially prevents the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) from spending $600 million of Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) money this year. This bill puts the funds back into the appropriations process through the legislature, which is required by the state constitution.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, issued a statement Wednesday following the resignation of McCurtain County Commissioner Mark Jennings.  His resignation came days after the release of a recording containing racist, hateful comments made following a county commissioner’s meeting.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, today called on Gov. Kevin Stitt to collaborate with tribal leaders to advance sports betting in the future.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate author and co-author of a bill to upgrade Oklahoma’s 911 services announced they planned to name the legislation for a 22-year-old Oklahoman who died after suffering a cardiac incident.  Sen. Casey Murdock, R-Felt, is the Senate principal author of House Bill 1590, and Sen.

OKLAHOMA CITY –Oklahoma State Medical Association (OSMA) has honored Sen. Carri Hicks for her political leadership, support of physicians, and efforts to improve public health throughout the state. Hicks, D-Oklahoma City, has received the 2023 Ed Brandt. Jr., MD, Outstanding Elected Official Award.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate Judiciary Committee approved two measures protecting the integrity of Oklahoma's election process Tuesday. Sen. Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, is the Senate principal author of House Bill 2052 and HB 2056.

OKLAHOMA CITY – A Southmoore High School trumpet player and his band director were honored by the Oklahoma Senate Tuesday, after the two received the 2023 National High School Heart of the Arts Award.  Sen.
