OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma State Senate honored the legacy of women who played a critical role in America’s war effort during World War II by commemorating Rosie the Riveter Day. OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Darrell Weaver, R-Moore, received the Senate’s approval for Senate Bill 633 Thursday. The measure authorizes public school superintendents, or a designated district employee, to access data through the Juvenile Online Tracking System (JOLTS), an online record keeping system operated by the Office of Juvenile Affairs.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The full Oklahoma Senate has successfully passed legislation from Sen. Ally Seifried, R-Claremore, to prohibit cellphones in schools from “bell to bell” for at least one full year.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman, won bipartisan support from the Senate for her legislation expanding the state’s professional sports tax rebate program to include women’s professional sports. Senate Bill 820 was approved on Wednesday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate has passed legislation from Sen. Ally Seifried, R-Claremore, to increase voter turnout in school board races by moving these contests to coincide with Oklahoma’s general election.

Seifried’s Senate Bill 6 moves the general election for school board races from April to November, when Oklahoma holds general elections for other elected positions.

The measure provides that any Oklahoma sheriff, deputy sheriff, or reserve deputy sheriff shall have the same powers and duties as though employed by the sheriff’s office for which he or she is performing duties outside of his or her county of employment.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Tom Woods, R-Westville, secured approval from the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee for Senate Bill 1114. The measure provides an ad valorem tax credit for qualifying Oklahoma seniors.
