OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt has won unanimous committee approval for legislation updating the eviction timeline. Kirt, D-Oklahoma City, said Oklahoma has one of the fastest eviction processes in the country. Senate Bill 1209, which was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, would exclude Sundays and federal holidays from the filing schedule. 

OKLAHOMA CITY — Senator Lisa Standridge, R-Norman, has advanced legislation that prohibits someone from boarding a school bus without receiving permission from a school district employee.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Nikki Nice, D-Oklahoma City, and Sen. Regina Goodwin, D-Tulsa, passed Senate Resolution 29 on Thursday, a measure recognizing and celebrating Black History Month in the State of Oklahoma. 

OKLAHOMA CITY – Legislation authored by Sen. Kristen Thompson, R-Edmond, to stop dental insurance companies from setting prices for services they do not cover has passed the Oklahoma Senate 40-to-3.

MCCURTAIN COUNTY — Senator George Burns (R-District 5) has announced that replacement signage has been installed along the Representative Rusty Farley Memorial Highway, restoring the designation honoring the late lawmaker’s service to southeastern Oklahoma.

The original memorial signs had been removed over time. Sen. Burns worked with the appropriate agencies to ensure the highway once again properly recognizes Rep. Farley and his legacy of public service.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Sen. Casey Murdock, R-Felt, issued the following statement on the ongoing wildfires that have burned more than 155,000 acres in Northwest Oklahoma and the Panhandle.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Kristen Thompson, R-Edmond, today secured unanimous Senate passage of Senate Bill 985 to formally establish the Oklahoma Local Food for Schools Program.

The measure passed 47-0 and directs the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry to administer the program, which will facilitate the purchase of locally sourced food by school districts across the state. The legislation also creates the Oklahoma Local Food for Schools Revolving Fund to support the program’s long-term sustainability.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Mark Mann, D-Oklahoma City, has won the support of the Senate Education Committee for legislation to better support teachers and staff following the death of a spouse or child, including miscarriage. Senate Bill 1204 was approved unanimously on Tuesday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Bill 1421, by Sen. Jo Anna Dossett, D-Tulsa, requiring nonphysical and nonviolent intervention training for personnel who serve children at Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) facilities, was approved unanimously Monday in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Kristen Thompson, R-Edmond, has secured unanimous committee approval of Senate Bill 1733, legislation strengthening reporting requirements for allegations of sexual abuse, sexual assault and sexual misconduct involving students.

Senate Bill 1733 strengthens mandatory reporting requirements by ensuring schools report any allegation of child sexual abuse to law enforcement within 24 hours. 

OKLAHOMA CITY- The Senate Public Safety Committee today unanimously approved legislation by Chairman Darrell Weaver to allow expert testimony in human trafficking cases.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator McIntosh has introduced Senate Resolution 24 commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States and reaffirming the foundational principles expressed at the nation’s founding. The resolution complements statewide commemorative activities being organized by the Oklahoma Semiquincentennial Commission as Oklahoma prepares to mark America’s 250th birthday.

The Semiquincentennial will be observed nationwide on July 4, 2026, marking 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
