• The Senate met briefly Monday and approved one resolution.

-SR 24 by Sen. John Sparks, recognized the many accomplishments of Rev. Dick Virtue.

• Senate committees passed a number of measures on Monday, including the following:

-HB 1708 by Sen. Randy Bass, would direct the Secretary of State to serve as Chief International Protocol Officer.

• The Senate met Monday and approved one resolution.

-HCR 1022 by Sen. John Sparks, declares March 26, as Diabetes Awareness Day, and states that diabetes is a global crisis and it is now estimated that one in ten Oklahomans suffers from diabetes.

• Senate committees passed a number of sunset bills and several other measures on Monday, including the following:

-HB 1914 by Sen. Roger Ballenger, would create the Feral Swine Control Act and provide license and permit requirements for hunting.

• The Senate met Monday and took up a number of resolutions including the following:

-SCR 20 by Sen. Mike Morgan, commends the Oklahoma Celtic Heritage Association and declares June 16 and 17, 2007, as “Oklahoma Celtic Music and Heritage Festival Weekend” in Stillwater.

-SR 19 by Sens. Don Barrington, Randy Bass and Clark Jolley, honors Miss America 2007, Lauren Nelson, of Lawton.

-SR 18 by Sens. Brian Crain and James A. Williamson, honors Miss Oklahoma 2006, Lindsay Miller, on her accomplishments.

• The Senate met Monday and took up a full agenda of bills. Numerous measures were approved on Monday including the following:

-SB 139 by Sen. Jay Paul Gumm, would direct the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to maintain a public umbilical cord blood bank for collecting and storing umbilical cord blood and placental tissue donated by maternity patients.

• The Senate met Monday and took up a full agenda of bills. Numerous measures were approved on Monday including the following:

-SB 139 by Sen. Jay Paul Gumm, would direct the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to maintain a public umbilical cord blood bank for collecting and storing umbilical cord blood and placental tissue donated by maternity patients.

• Having passed the legislative deadline for passing bills out of committees in the House of origin, the Senate approved several measures on Monday:

-SB 145 by Sen. Brian Crain, would authorize associate district judges to carry or use weapons in a courthouse

-SB 734 by Sen. Mike Morgan, would create a Joint Electric Utility Restructuring Task Force.

-SB 70 by Sen. Roger Ballenger, would create the Feral Swine Control Act.
