The Oklahoma Legislature formally convened its 2000 session, gathering in a joint Senate-House meeting to receive the annual state of the state address. Monday, June 14th
  • At the call of Governor Keating, the Oklahoma Legislature convened in special session to consider a Truth in Sentencing delay, a proposed multi-million dollar higher education bond issue and other budgetary matters. Both houses met briefly and advanced shell bills related to the special session agenda items.

Lawmakers worked long hours in an attempt to finish remaining business before the required session adjournment on May 28th. Legislative action moved back and forth from the House and Senate floors to committee meeting rooms as lawmakers tried to put the finishing touches on both the state budget and substantive legislation.
