OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma is now the 25th state in the nation to enact legislation allowing the use of electronic titles and liens for vehicles, boats, trailers and farm equipment.  Senate Bill 998, authored by Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, and Rep. Mike Osburn, R-Edmond, was approved by Gov. Kevin Stitt on Friday and takes effect Nov. 1, 2021.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The full Senate has approved legislation by Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, and Rep. Kevin West, R-Moore, to give legal protections to drivers trying to escape from riots.  House Bill 1674 was approved by the full Senate on Wednesday and would give civil and criminal liability protection to drivers who may unintentionally cause injury or death while fleeing a riot and imposes penalties for those who unlawfully obstruct streets or highways, blocking vehicles.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, released the following statement after the Oklahoma Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s ruling that the city of Norman violated the state’s Open Meeting Act when it voted to cut the police budget by more than $865,000 last year.  The Court ruling said that the meeting notice, which did not specify cuts to the police budget were to be considered, was misleading at best, deceptive at worst, and constituted a willful violation of the Open Meeting Act.

Standridge, R-Norman, authored Senate Bill 383 to eliminate selective censorship of opinion on social media and to ensure free speech is treated fairly.

A bill to modernize the process for filing and storing vehicle titles and liens has cleared the full Senate.  Senate Bill 998, by Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, was approved Monday.

“This is going to speed up the process for titles and liens by moving these records online,” Standridge said.  “It’s going to make buying and selling vehicles more convenient and will even help owners get their permanent tags more quickly.  It’s time to bring our state into the 21st century, and this is a part of that effort.”
