State Senators Nathan Dahm and Anthony Sykes said a bill ensuring legislative input on state agency rules will create greater accountability when determining policies impacting the lives of Oklahomans. Senate Bill 1130 clarifies Oklahoma law to ensure the Legislature’s authority to approve, amend or disapprove agency rules.

Dahm, principal author of SB 1130, said the measure was approved by the full Senate Appropriations Committee on Wednesday.

While the Oklahoma legislature cant pull the plug on the National Security Agency (NSA), Sen. Nathan Dahm believes the state does have the ability to make it more difficult for them to use unconstitutionally gathered information against citizens.

Dahm, R-Tulsa, is the son of missionaries and grew up in Eastern Europe where governments routinely spied on their own citizens and encouraged citizens to spy and inform on one another.

OKLAHOMA CITY –Sen. Nathan Dahm, Rep. Mike Ritze and Rep. David Brumbaugh are inviting citizens to attend a town hall meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 5 at 7 p.m. at the Central Park Community Center in Broken Arrow. 

Dahm said they would share their insights on the 2013 legislative session as well as discuss some of the issues that may be in the spotlight when the 2014 session convenes in February.  He said those attending would also have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss topics they’re concerned about as well.

During a trip to Romania last month, State Sen. Nathan Dahm had the opportunity to visit with State Secretary for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu to discuss the continuing efforts to finalize the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the U.S.

Dahm, whose family lived in Romania when he was a child, said the partnership continues to be beneficial for both countries.

The growing problem of human trafficking has resulted in Senate passage of two bills aimed at helping the victims of this crime. House Bill 1058 by Sen. Nathan Dahm and Rep. Sally Kern and House Bill 1067 by Sen. A.J. Griffin and Rep. Lee Denney were approved in the Senate on Thursday.

Sen. Nathan Dahm has filed three proposals to protect the Second Amendment rights of Oklahomans to keep and bear arms. Dahm said the Constitution provides clear protections to gun owners, but if lawmakers are not diligent, those protections can easily come under attack by proponents of big government. read more.

Dahm and Ritze have filed Senate Bill 203 and House Bill 1021, proposals which will nullify the provisions of Obamacare in Oklahoma. Dahm said health care operates best as an enterprise, not as a birthright.
