OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Micheal Bergstrom joined members of the Vinita City Council and city officials on August 21for the presentation of an honorary grant check for $25,000 from AARP Oklahoma earmarked for improvements to downtown Vinita.
The grant, which is part of AARP Oklahoma’s Community Challenge program, will fund a revitalization project slated to significantly improve the safety and walkability of downtown Vinita and the community’s historic Route 66 Main Street area.

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Senator Micheal Bergstrom filed two bills this week aimed at helping to recruit and retain teachers in Oklahoma schools.
Senate Bill 1188 would allow a certified classroom teacher to earn a tuition waiver worth 12 credit hours of resident tuition each year the teacher is employed by an Oklahoma public school district to be used for the postsecondary education of the teacher’s child or children.

read more.State Senator Micheal Bergstrom attended the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) Vezey Veterans Complex in Oklahoma City last week. The new facility is named in honor of the last survivor of the USS Oklahoma, Lieutenant Commander Edward Earl Vezey, Jr., as well as the 429 service members who died on the USS Oklahoma when it sunk on December 7, 1941 during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
read more.On Tuesday, the Oklahoma Supreme Court struck down, in a 6-3 decision, a fee that would have been charged to drivers of electric and hybrid vehicles, declaring it an unconstitutional tax.
Senator Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, agrees with the court’s decision.
“The Oklahoma Supreme Court made the right decision here,” said Bergstrom, “but it will cut this year's revenue by about another $400,000, which probably means more cuts in the budget.”
