NORMAN – Sen. Lisa Standridge, R-Norman, and Cleveland County Commissioner Jacob McHughes today announced that Cleveland County will hire two new sheriff’s deputies tasked with patrolling areas in and around state-owned property in Norman. In addition, the deputies will serve as a resource, providing information to connect those who need it with help.

The idea emerged from a meeting organized by Senator Standridge that included Rep. Jonathan Wilk, Cleveland County leaders and state officials.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Sen. Lisa Standridge, R-Norman, today praised law enforcement for clearing the Reed Avenue encampment in Norman and taking action against individuals who returned to the state-owned property despite repeated warnings that doing so violates state law.

NORMAN — Sen. Lisa Standridge today issued the following comments on yet another Operation SAFE sweep of an illegal encampment along Reed Avenue near downtown Norman as state and local officials continue working to address the ongoing public safety concerns surrounding this property.

Standridge, R-Norman, said the priority must remain a firm commitment to public safety while the state-owned property is cleared and kept free from future illegal encampments.
