OKLAHOMA CITY – The full Senate has given approval to a measure aimed at strengthening Oklahoma’s efforts to defend life.  Senate Bill 1503, by Sen. Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, creates the Oklahoma Heartbeat Act.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, on Thursday announced the Senate appointments to the newly created Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR).

Previously, Treat named Sen. Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, as co-chair of the joint committee made up of members from the Senate and the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat on Wednesday announced changes to Senate leadership and some committee chair assignments.

Treat said Sen. Greg McCortney, R-Ada, will take over the duties of majority floor leader from Sen. Kim David, R-Porter. Treat said David will continue her Senate service and she will remain a trusted voice and leader for Senate Republicans.

Sen. Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, and 12 additional state senators, sent a letter to the Executive Director of the Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA), Shawn Hime, on Friday, asking him to denounce statements from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) sent to President Joe Biden.

Daniels referenced a letter sent by NSBA to the president on Sept. 29 requesting federal assistance to stop threats and acts of violence against public school board members, district officials, educators and students.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate has given approval to a pair of bills to reduce the number of abortions in Oklahoma. 

Sen. Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, is Senate principal author of House Bill 2441, by House principal author, Rep. Todd Russ, R-Cordell.  Under this bill, no abortion could be performed on an unborn baby who has a detectable heartbeat.

The full Senate has given unanimous approval to a measure taking aim at surprise medical bills and the financial devastation that can follow.  Sen. Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, is the principal author of Senate Bill 548.

Daniels said under the provisions of SB 548, a health care provider would be prohibited from reporting a healthcare debt to a credit bureau or pursue collection activities unless a good faith estimate of the cost of the procedure or care was presented before the service was provided.

The full Senate has given approval to a pair of bills aimed at better protecting the health of Oklahoma women who use abortion-inducing drugs to end their pregnancies.  Sen. Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, is the principal author of Senate Bills 778 and 779 which were approved on Wednesday.

Daniels said chemical abortions now comprise an estimated 41% of all U.S. abortions, a number that’s growing, and the risk of potentially life-threatening complications is four times greater compared to surgical abortion.

The full Senate has approved legislation to protect the First Amendment free speech rights of public school employees.  Senate Bill 634, by Sen. Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, requires school districts to ask employees once a year if they want to continue to have association dues deducted from their paychecks.
