OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department (OTRD) recently awarded more than $1.5 million in grants through the 2020 Recreational Trails Program (RTP). Sen. Dewayne Pemberton, R-Muskogee, announced that Muskogee and Tahlequah will be receiving funding to construct and improve recreational trails in the area.

Sen. Dewayne Pemberton, R-Muskogee, released the following statement Friday after passage of House Bill 3350.  The bill will provide a 2% cost-of-living adjustment for those who have been retired from public service for 2-5 years and a 4% increase for those who have been retired for more than 5 years. The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education honored Sen. Dewayne Pemberton last week with the 2019 Distinguished Service Award for Higher Education. The Muskogee Republican and retired educator thanked the Regents for the great honor.

The Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA) recognized Sen. Dewayne Pemberton for his dedication to Oklahoma schools this session by naming him Legislator of the Year. The Muskogee legislator was presented with the award at the annual OSSBA/CCOSA Conference last Friday at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

Sen. Dewayne Pemberton released the following statement regarding the passing Monday of his predecessor Sen. Earl Garrison.

The Senate unanimously approved House Bill 1395 Wednesday to improve the financial transparency and accountability of Oklahoma’s five public virtual charter schools. Sen. Dewayne Pemberton (R-Muskogee) and Rep. Sheila Dills (R-Tulsa) are the authors of the bill, which will subject virtual charter schools to same financial reporting requirements, financial audits, audit procedures and audit requirements as traditional public school districts.
