Senator Coleman hosted the study in the Senate Business and Insurance Committee, which he chairs, to bring stakeholders to the table to discuss reaching a consensus on a framework for legalized sports betting in Oklahoma.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, on Wednesday hosted an interim study in the Senate Public Safety Committee to explore what the state can do to prevent domestic violence and protect victims of abuse.

Coleman focused his study on how GPS technology could be used to prevent domestic violence offenders from going near their victims. While courts in Oklahoma can already order GPS tracking in protective order cases, it’s rarely used, and there’s no consistent framework to use GPS devices in this manner.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate has approved legislation from Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, to create a recall process for state elected officials to be removed from office. 

Before the legislation passed 31 to 15, Coleman vowed to make major changes to the bill in the coming weeks.

OKLAHOMA CITY – In an unprecedented move, the Senate Business and Insurance Committee on Thursday passed three bills to legalize sports betting in Oklahoma.

The panel approved bills from Committee Chairman Sen. Bill Coleman, Sen. Dave Rader, R-Tulsa, and Sen. Casey Murdock, R-Felt.

Coleman elected Senate Majority Whip

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, was elected by his peers on Wednesday to serve as the Oklahoma Senate’s Majority Whip.

The 39-member Senate Republican Caucus held leadership elections during a retreat this week in Oklahoma City. After previously serving as an assistant whip, Coleman ran unopposed in his bid for majority whip.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, commented after a tornado hit the town of Barnsdall on Monday evening and severe weather caused damage in other parts of Osage County. One person died because of the destructive storms, others were injured, and Barnsdall and other communities are still reeling from the extreme damage left in the wake of the tornado.

Law enforcement officers and first responders from multiple jurisdictions are in Osage County to take the lead on search and rescue efforts and help Oklahomans suffering from medical injuries.
