Tulsa area Senators take oath of office

Sen. Nathan Dahm, Sen. Joe Newhouse, Sen. Dave Rader and newly-elected Sen. Cody Rogers are officially on the job for the next four years after taking the official oath of office at the Capitol on Monday. The oath was administered to the Tulsa area senators in small groups on the Senate floor to accommodate for COVID-19 health safety protocols and ongoing Capitol construction.

State Sen. Greg McCortney has officially begun his second term in the Oklahoma Legislature.  The Ada Republican was re-elected during the November general election to serve Senate District 13, which includes communities in Garvin, Hughes, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie and Seminole Counties.

State Sen. Tom Dugger, R-Stillwater, has officially begun his second term in the Oklahoma Senate.   Dugger was re-elected in the November general election to the Senate District 21 seat, representing Payne County.

Sen. Jo Anna Dossett was first elected to the state Senate in 2020 to represent District 35 in Midtown Tulsa.

Sen. Warren Hamilton was first elected to the state Senate in 2020 to represent District 7, which includes communities in Haskell, Latimer, Pittsburg, southern Sequoyah & northwest Leflore counties. Hamilton is the first Senator in state history from McCurtain, Okla.

The Republican grew up on a ranch run by his parents, who were both school teachers. He joined the Army in 1989 when he reported to the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

About the Senator

Senator George Burns grew up in the beautiful southeast corner of Oklahoma in the Pollard community, near Haworth, where he and his wife, Patty, have also lived and raised their family. Burns was honored to be elected to the state Senate in 2020 to represent District 5, encompassing communities in LeFlore, McCurtain, and Pushmataha Counties.
