About the Senator

Senator Nikki Nice was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in 2024. She represents District 48, which includes northeast Oklahoma City and the communities of Forest Park, Nicoma Park and Spencer.

Before being elected to the Senate, Nice was elected to represent Ward 7 of Oklahoma City in 2018, becoming the tenth woman and the second woman of color to serve at City Hall since Oklahoma City incorporated in 1890. A fourth generation Oklahoman, Nice was born, reared, educated and spiritually nurtured in District 48. A graduate of Northeast High School, she received a Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting from historic Langston University before going on to earn a Master’s in regional and city planning at the University of Oklahoma. She has also studied abroad in The Gambia and Dakar, Senegal, in West Africa.

Nice has been praised for her work in the community and Oklahoma City with numerous awards and recognitions. She is the proud recipient of the Opio Toure Medallion Award presented by the Oklahoma County Democrats; Finer Womanhood Award presented by the Chi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; Citizen of the Year Award presented by the Upsilon Iota Chapter (2018) and the Eta Iota Chapter (2019) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; Oklahoma Women's Coalition 2019 Shero of the year; Journal Record 2020 Achievers Under 40; Journal Record 2020 Woman of the year nominee; 405 Magazine 2020 HER Community Visionary Award; 2021 Lynn Institute Legacy Award; named a 2021 top 10 OKC Young Professional by Oklahoma City Young Professionals; recognized annually by OKC Friday since serving as one of the top 50 most powerful women in Oklahoma City; Oklahoma Contemporary Founders Day 2022 Honoree; Reverend John A. Nice also served as a member of Class one of L.O.Y.A.L. (Linking Oklahoma’s Young Adult Leaders); Leadership Oklahoma City Class 35; inaugural board member of NLC Oklahoma (New Leaders Council); Oklahoma Department of Corrections Citizens Academy participant; and Oklahoma Conservancy Leadership Academy, Class 4. She has served as a Special Friends of Ralph Ellison Library executive board member, Working Together for Change Ministries board member, and Women Lead Oklahoma. Nice currently serves as a board member for HeartLine, Inc., B.L.A.C. Inc., (Black Liberated Arts Center) board member, and serves as an advisory board member for Factory Obscura and Eastside Pride Wrestling. She was also an inaugural participant in the Obama Leaders USA program in 2023. Nice is a member of Tau Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and Oklahoma Sooner City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

As a member of the Oklahoma City Council, Nice successfully secured millions of dollars for the preservation of historic locations and buildings in the northeastern quadrant of the metro, including the Jewel Theater, currently undergoing restoration. With an eye to helping address the northeast Oklahoma City area’s food apartheid, Nice also worked to attract and open a full-service grocery store and assist with funding access for a community led market in the district, helping give greater access to healthy foods, including fresh produce not easily available to families and individuals in the area – all efforts which will boost economic opportunities and quality of life for her constituents.

Nice is the proud daughter of Roberta, and is a pet lover, music lover and a lover of people. As the Senator of District 48, she is committed to the work that continues to move Oklahoma City and the state of Oklahoma forward.
