Woods Applauds Signing of HB 4156 to Combat Illegal Immigration in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Tom Woods, R-Westville, applauds the recent signing of House Bill 4156 by Gov. Kevin Stitt. The bill addresses the critical issue of illegal immigration, aiming to shield communities from the adverse impacts of illicit activities such as fentanyl trafficking and human trafficking.

“House Bill 4156 reenforces Oklahoma's commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of its residents,” Woods said. “By providing law enforcement with the necessary tools to tackle illegal immigration, we’re taking proactive measures to uphold the rule of law and ensure the well-being of our communities.”

The legislation's provisions include stringent penalties for individuals convicted of illegal immigration-related offenses. While exempting immigrants with legal authorization, HB 4156 imposes misdemeanor and felony charges, coupled with fines and mandatory departure requirements for subsequent offenses or those associated with other criminal acts.

Woods expresses his appreciation to Gov. Stitt, along with his Senate and House colleagues, for their unwavering support of this legislation.

HB 4156 goes into effect immediately.
