OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City, and Sen. Carri Hicks, D-Oklahoma City, issued the following statement regarding Senate Bill 1101:
“Our colleagues continue to recklessly hoard taxpayer dollars rather than putting that money to work. We could use those dollars to improve outcomes for students in our public schools and make it easier for Oklahomans to access quality healthcare. We need to invest in our future now, not create more bloated state accounts.” – Sen. Julia Kirt
“The residents of Oklahoma entrust us with their hard-earned dollars, so that we can invest in our future through things like education and healthcare. It is irresponsible for us to hoard the wealth of hard-working taxpayers when we are $1.3 billion behind the regional average for per-pupil investment. Why would we put another $1.1 billion in another account? When will it be enough?” – Sen. Carri Hicks
