OKLAHOMA CITY — Sen. Logan, R-District 8, is commending the passage of Senate Bill 743, a measure addressing the intentional disruption of religious worship services. The freshman lawmaker and pastor issued the following statement:
"Look, I have widows and families in my congregation. I’ve got folks who come to church looking for peace, not confrontation. As a pastor, I take seriously the responsibility to make sure people can worship without fear — in my church and anywhere else across our state.
At the same time, honoring the Constitution and respecting one another as neighbors is foundational to who we are as Oklahomans.
Our families deserve to worship in peace and security.
This legislation strikes a thoughtful balance: it seeks to prevent the willful interruption of religious gatherings — an activity that can be frightening and harmful for congregations — without infringing on lawful expression and assembly.
I appreciate Senator Todd Gollihare for bringing this issue forward, for Pro Tem Paxton and the Senate’s work to address it in a responsible way, and for Governor Stitt for seeing it through. As we move forward, I look forward to working with members from both chambers and sides of the aisle to ensure this measure upholds the principles of safety and constitutional protections we all value."
