Simpson to continue serving as Senate Assistant Majority Floor Leader

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Frank Simpson, R-Springer, has been tapped to continue serving as a Senate assistant majority floor leader during the 58th Legislature.  The announcement was made by Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, Tuesday during the legislature’s constitutionally required organizational day.

“I’m proud and honored by my colleagues’ confidence in my work as assistant majority floor leader the past two years and look forward to continue working hard on their behalf and that of the people of Senate District 14 and all of Oklahoma,” Simpson said. “We have a tough road ahead as we continue working to address the negative impact the health pandemic has had on our state’s families, businesses and government agencies. During the 58th Legislature, we must stay focused on those issues that will help restore and strengthen our state’s economy, and I’m humbled to be a part of this historic effort.”

The assistant majority floor leaders help the majority floor leader in determining the order of business for the Senate and aid with the flow of legislation through the Senate.

During his last two years in office, Simpson will also continue serving as co-chair of the Legislative Diabetes Caucus and as a member of the standing committees for LOFT and redistricting. He will also continue serving as chairman of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. His other committees will include Appropriations, Finance, Health and Human Services, and Rules.

The legislative session will officially begin on Monday, Feb. 1.
