Senator Thompson Celebrates Historic $150 Million Investment in OU Health

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Kristen Thompson, R-Edmond, is celebrating Harold Hamm’s historic $150 million investment in the University of Oklahoma and the future of healthcare in Oklahoma.

In recognition of his extraordinary generosity, OU’s Health Campus in Oklahoma City will be renamed the Harold Hamm Health Campus at the University of Oklahoma.

As an OU alumna, Thompson said she is especially proud to see her alma mater receive such a transformative investment that will strengthen healthcare education, research and innovation in Oklahoma.

“I want to thank Harold Hamm and his family for their incredible generosity,” Thompson said. “As a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, I know firsthand the impact the University has on our state.  This investment is strengthening Oklahoma’s research and development infrastructure and supporting an environment where innovation can translate into economic opportunity. By investing in research, talent and technology, Oklahoma can attract new capital, support high-quality jobs and continue building a stronger, more competitive economy.”

Of the $150 million gift, $50 million will support the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, while $100 million will support the broader OU Health Campus and its efforts to educate healthcare professionals, advance research and expand its impact across the state.  Hamm’s lifetime contributions to the university total nearly $250 million.
