OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Rob Standridge was recently named to a Senate leadership role after being elected as a Majority Whip. This will be the Norman Republican’s second session as he was elected in November 2012.
“I’m so pleased to have been entrusted with a leadership role for our caucus. It truly is an honor and I’m looking forward to getting to work,” said Standridge. “We will continue to focus on our pro-jobs agenda and strengthening Oklahoma’s economy this coming session. It’s imperative that our caucus be united in supporting legislation that will help us accomplish these goals and I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues in this effort.”
The Majority Whip is responsible for assisting the members of their party in working with their colleagues in determining and informing the leadership of the members’ positions on issues.
Although their new committee assignments have not been announced, this past session Standridge served as the Vice Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee and as a member of the Appropriations Committee, the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and Judiciary and the Energy, Rules and Transportation Committees.
