OKLAHOMA CITY- Senator Paul Rosino, R-Oklahoma City, has been named Legislator of the Year by Oklahoma Care for his leadership and advocacy on behalf of Oklahoma’s most vulnerable children.
Rosino, chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, was recognized Thursday for his work supporting children in foster care and strengthening services for families across the state.
“In Health and Human Services, we take on the toughest issues affecting Oklahomans who often do not have a voice, including children, the elderly, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. When it comes to children, they deserve to have someone at the Capitol fighting for them because strong families, strong foster systems, and effective services are key to helping them grow and succeed,” Rosino said. “I am proud to work alongside my colleagues and organizations like OkCARE who share my commitment to making that happen, and I am deeply humbled to receive this meaningful honor.”
Oklahoma Care board member Sarah Herrian presented Rosino with the award and stated that his leadership and collaborative efforts set him apart in advocating for children.
“There are leaders who do their job, and then there are leaders who carry a calling. Senator Rosino is the latter. His work reflects a deep understanding that in every bill, in every system, there are children. What sets him apart is his commitment not only to doing what is right, but his genuine desire to bring people together to create better outcomes for children and families,” Herrian said during the presentation.
The award was also presented by Jennifer Abney, President of the Oklahoma Care Board. Oklahoma Care is a 501(c)(3) network of residential and foster care agencies across the state that unites both public and private agencies to provide quality care for children in need of temporary or permanent placement outside their homes.
Rosino remains a steadfast advocate for Oklahoma’s youth and continues to lead legislative efforts to enhance protections and services for vulnerable children, including his current initiative to establish a dedicated state department focused on child safety and well-being.
