BURLINGTON, OKLA— Senator Roland Pederson, R-Burlington, released the following statement after severe storms moved through western and northwestern Oklahoma late Thursday night, causing damage across the region and loss of life in Major County.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all of Senate District 19 following last night’s severe storms. My heart is especially heavy for our neighbors in Major County who are facing unimaginable loss after a tornado claimed two lives.
“Through the damage and loss, I know we will recover swiftly and fully thanks to our fellow Oklahomans who continue to exhibit the Oklahoma Standard and help their neighbors through challenging times such as these. I’m especially thankful for our first responders and emergency managers for their response last night, and for their consistent updates and tracking that indicated most properties in our area were spared, with only minor sporadic damage as the storm hit mostly open areas. I also extend my appreciation to the electric crews for their rapid response.
“As more severe weather is on the way, I encourage those in Senate District 19, and all Oklahomans to stay weather aware and to check in on your fellow community members.”
