Senator Murdock commends Britt Hilton’s appointment to state ag board

OKLAHOMA CITY - State Senator Casey Murdock applauded Governor Mary Fallin’s announcement this week of Britt Hilton’s appointment to the State Board of Agriculture.  Hilton owns and manages a cow-calf and stocker operation in Gate. He will serve the remaining term of Joe Mayer, who passed away in May.

“I am pleased with the diverse experience Mr. Hilton brings to his new role with the State Board of Agriculture,” said Sen. Murdock, R-Felt.  “I am confident his firsthand knowledge of the issues Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers face will give him tremendous insight and will allow him to hit the ground running as he begins his new job.”

The State Board of Agriculture consists of five members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Oklahoma State Senate. The state is divided into four agricultural districts and a member is appointed to a four year term from each of the districts, with an at-large position appointed by the Governor to be the President of the State Board of Agriculture and the Commissioner of Agriculture.

Hilton holds a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness from Oklahoma State University. He and his wife, K’dawn, raise cattle, wheat and sorghum within their farm and ranch operation. They have two sons, Jax and Cal.

Hilton begins his service on the board immediately, with his term expiring in April 2022.  Final confirmation is required by the state Senate.
