Senator Hall Mourns the Passing of Former House Minority Leader Larry Ferguson

OKLAHOMA CITY — Sen. Chuck Hall, R-Perry, released the following statement expressing his heartfelt condolences to the family of former House Minority Leader Larry Ferguson, a beloved constituent from Cleveland who recently passed.

On Tuesday at the state Capitol, Hall attended a remembrance ceremony honoring Ferguson’s legacy, where he presented an Oklahoma flag that flew over the Capitol to Ferguson’s daughter, Lori.

“Larry Ferguson was a true servant of the people, a devoted rancher, an esteemed newspaperman and a statesman who dedicated his life to his community and his state. His legacy of hard work, leadership and public service will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him and loved him.

“I first met Larry decades ago, when he was serving as House Minority Leader. At the time, he was the longest-serving politician in that role, a testament to his exceptional leadership capabilities and his talent for uniting his fellow representatives. Larry was a remarkable public servant for House District 35, but he was also a trailblazer who defied the odds to give Republicans a greater voice in the statehouse. At the same time, he showed us what it means to rise above partisan divides and put the needs of Oklahomans first. In some ways, my earliest conversations with Larry planted the seeds for me to pursue public office many years later.

“His passing is a profound loss for Senate District 20, the House District 35 community that he represented and the entire state. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.”
