OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma’s hospitality industry recently named Sen. Bill Coleman as one of their Legislators of the Year for his support and dedication to the industry and small business in the state. The Ponca City Republican was honored as part of the first class of the “Hospitality 100% Club.”

“I’m honored to have received this special recognition from this outstanding industry that plays such a critical role in our state’s economy. It not only provides millions in much-needed tax revenue but is one of our state’s largest employers, providing high quality jobs and opportunities for Oklahomans,” Coleman said. “We must do all we can to help businesses grow and thrive, and that’s been one of my main focuses since being in the Senate. I’ve worked to reform licensing, lessen unnecessary government regulation and cut through the bureaucratic red tape. We have much more work to do but we’ve made great strides for the hospitality industry.”

He was selected by members of the Oklahoma Restaurant Association, the Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association and the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association.

James Leewright, CEO and President of the three associations thanked Coleman for his continued service and support of the hospitality industry.

“This award is a prestigious honor that underscores the vital role of advocacy in the hospitality industry and highlights the importance of legislative support in fostering a thriving hospitality sector, which is a key contributor to Oklahoma's economy. It not only provides thousands of jobs but also generates considerable tax revenues and contributes to the state’s cultural and social fabric,” Leewright said. “The industry's success largely depends on favorable legislative policies that support its growth and sustainability, including regulation, taxation, tourism promotion, and support during challenging times, such as economic downturns or health crises. This special recognition serves as a reminder of the need for continued collaboration and dialogue between the hospitality industry and policymakers. This partnership ensures that the industry's needs and challenges are understood and addressed effectively, enabling it to continue being a vital part of Oklahoma's economy and community life.”

Coleman serves as the chair of the Senate Business and Commerce Committee and is also a member of the Select Committee on Business Retention and Economic Development.
