Senator Bryan Logan Celebrates Expanded Broadband Access Across Four Counties

PADEN – Sen. Bryan Logan, R-Paden, today applauded the completion of major broadband projects throughout his Senate district that will expand high-speed internet access to more residents of Muskogee, Creek, Okfuskee and Okmulgee counties.

Internet service providers Dobson Fiber and ecoLINK Fiber have completed major broadband expansion projects across Senate District 8. The companies partnered with the Oklahoma Broadband Office, a temporary state office formed by the Oklahoma Legislature to expand fast and affordable broadband service across the state, on the projects.

More than 275 residents in Okemah, Haskell, Schulter, Slick and Morris now have expanded fiber internet service options as a result of these infrastructure upgrades.

Senator Logan said he is grateful that this initiative was a priority for the Oklahoma Broadband Office.

“As work, school and everyday life move online, affordable and reliable internet service has become as essential as roads and power lines," said Logan. "Families in rural Oklahoma deserve the same consistent, high-quality internet access as everyone else. I’m pleased the Oklahoma Broadband Office has stepped up to deliver for residents."

The expansion was made possible as part of the American Rescue Plan Act State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund program that has funded more than 100 last-mile broadband projects in 57 counties. Expanding broadband access to all Oklahomans was one of the biggest priorities for Oklahoma lawmakers who determined how to spend more than $1.8 billion in federal ARPA funds.

“Expanded broadband access opens a world of possibilities and greater connectivity for so many Oklahomans,” Logan said. “I am thrilled that more families in my district now have more options for dependable internet service.”
