President Pro Tempore Greg Treat on Monday announced appointments the senate leader has made to various boards and commissions.
“Public service to the great state of Oklahoma comes in many forms, and I appreciate these women and men for agreeing to step in and serve their fellow citizens,” said Treat, R-Oklahoma City.
The Senate president pro tempore is charged with making dozens of appointments to various agencies, boards and commissions. Pro Tempore Treat encouraged Oklahomans looking for a way to serve to visit the Senate website (www.oksenate.gov) and click on the “Appointments” button to learn about other opportunities to serve.
Commission on the Prevention of Abuse of Elderly and Vulnerable Adults
o Senator Paul Rosino, R-Oklahoma City, serving in a new position as a member of the Senate.
Commission on the Status of Women
o Delores Runnels of Oklahoma City appointed immediately for a term that expires June 30, 2024.
o Estela Hernandez of Oklahoma City appointed immediately for a term that expires June 30, 2022.
o Dr. Nyla Khan of Edmond for a term that begins immediately and expires June 30, 2019; and then Khan will be reappointed to serve a new five-year term beginning July 1, 2019, and expiring June 30, 2024.
Committee of Roofing Examiners
o Chris Meyer of Broken Arrow reappointed to serve a term expiring December 12, 2020.
Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training
o Russ Higbie of Edmond appointed for a term serving at the pleasure of the president pro tempore of the Oklahoma Senate.
Joint Committee on State Tribal Relations
o Senator Lonnie Paxton, R-Tuttle, replacing Pro Tem Treat on the council, which was created to oversee and approve agreements between tribal governments and the state of Oklahoma.
o Senator Mark Allen, R-Spiro, to serve as a committee member.
Joint Legislative Task Force on The Grand River Dam Authority
o Senator Kim David, R-Porter, reappointed as a member of the task force.
o Senator Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, appointed to replace former Senator Eddie Fields.
o Senator Marty Quinn, reappointed to the task force and appointed co-chair of the task force.
o Senator Wayne Shaw, R-Grove, reappointed as a member of the task force.
o Senator Dewayne Pemberton, R-Muskogee, reappointed as a member of the task force.
Oklahoma Strategic Military Planning Commission
o Senator John Michael Montgomery, R-Lawton, for a term serving at the pleasure of the president pro tempore of the Senate. Senator Montgomery will serve as an ex-officio member in a spot previously held by former Senator Randy Bass.
Radiation Management Advisory Council
o Wayne F. Conway of Tulsa reappointed to serve a three-year term expiring March 3, 2022.
Solid Waste Management Advisory Council
o Jim Linn, superintendent of solid waste management for the city of Oklahoma City, reappointed to serve a three-year expiring on March 1, 2022.
Statewide Virtual Charter School Board
o Mathew Hamrick of Yukon reappointed to serve a three-year term expiring October 31, 2021.
Storage Tank Advisory Council
o Kathy Lippert of Oklahoma City reappointed to serve for the remainder of a three-year term that expires September 3, 2020.
o Thomas Shreffler of Stillwater reappointed to serve the remainder of a three-year term that expires July 9, 2020.
o David Guthrie of Woodward reappointed to serve the remainder of a three-year term that expires September 3, 2021.
Streamlined Multi-State Sales and Use Tax Agreement Governing Board
o Senator Stephanie Bice, R-Oklahoma City, appointed as the Oklahoma Senate’s representative, a position previously held by Senator Roger Thompson, R-Okemah.
