Although the state Capitol will be closed beginning Friday evening, October 13 through Sunday, October 22, citizens will still be able to contact members and staff for assistance via phone. The closure is necessary for crews to replace the building’s electrical system, part of which includes original wiring installed over 100 years ago. This marks another key step in the multi-year interior and exterior repair and restoration project currently underway at the Capitol.
During the building closure, senators, their executive assistants, and other staff members will be able to make and receive calls and check messages. Those wishing to contact a Senate office or staff division but are unsure of the extension can call 405-521-5558. Callers can leave a message explaining who they need to speak to and their information will be forwarded to the appropriate office.
Because there will be no electrical service in the Capitol, the Senate’s official webpage and official email will be unavailable during the time the building is closed.
