Senate Republican Leader Glenn Coffee called on Democrats in the State Senate Wednesday to denounce a “wacky” ruling by a Democrat-appointed federal judge that the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional – and demanded that they call their liberal Democrat allies in Washington and ask them to stop putting liberal activist judges on the federal bench.
“The judge who issued this wacky ruling is exactly the kind of activist judge who national Democrats like to put on the federal bench. This is obvious after watching the Democrats’ interrogation of Judge John Roberts, a conservative whom President Bush has nominated to be the next chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court,” said Coffee, R-Oklahoma City.
“This is a moment of truth for Democrats in the State Senate. Do they stand with Oklahomans and our values, or do they stand with Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and the national Democrats? Democrats in the State Senate should denounce this ruling, and should publicly demand that their liberal Democrat allies in Washington stop trying to stack the federal courts with liberal, activist judges,” Coffee said.
