OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Senate Democrats have released their legislative priorities for the 2025 session – their blueprint to create prosperity, improved health, greater educational opportunities, and more fair government for all Oklahomans.
“Oklahomans need us working on real problem solving that will make their lives better. Senate Democrats have a vision for this state where every child gets a great education, everyone has a good-paying job, and families have the resources to take care of their health. Our agenda outlines pragmatic bills that will begin to make those goals a reality for Oklahomans,” said Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City.
Education is the heart of Oklahoma communities, and to make sure every student and teacher have what they need and schools are protected from political interference, Senate Democrats have introduced legislation like Senate Bill 374 by Sen. Mann, D-Oklahoma City. The bill safeguards school accreditation from state overreach. The caucus is also working to help all Oklahomans prosper with bills like SB 277, by Sen. Jo Anna Dossett, D-Tulsa. The measure would ensure every Oklahoman can take paid time off from work to care for themselves and their families.
Members of the caucus have also filed legislation to help all Oklahomans live longer, healthier lives. Sen. Carri Hicks, D-Oklahoma City, has filed SB 34, which would reduce the cost of medication so people currently left out of the health care system can get the medicine they need. Senate Democrats are working to stop corruption and make sure the government works for the people. Sen. Regina Goodwin, D-Tulsa, has filed SB 214, which creates a deadline for the governor to put citizen initiatives on the ballot.
“Oklahomans deserve better lives with great educations, higher wages and better benefits, improved health, and open and fair government,” said Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Michael Brooks, D-Oklahoma City. “Senate Democrats have common-sense solutions to create a brighter future for our entire state, and we’re ready to work across the aisle to promote opportunity and freedom for all Oklahomans.”
