Senate Democratic Leader Kirt comments on homeless policy

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt issued a statement Monday regarding new federal homeless policy.

“The best way to end homelessness is to make sure people have homes. If people can’t find affordable places to live, they will end up living on the streets. This includes families with kids, veterans who haven’t gotten the help they need, and people who can’t get preventative health care or mental health support. We can help our neighbors regain stability through proven assistance. But it’s wrong to take away someone’s freedom, lock them up, or treat them unfairly just because they’re homeless.” – Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City.
