Senate confirms gubernatorial executive nominations of Elk City leaders

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Sen. Darcy Jech is commending the Senate’s approval of several gubernatorial executive nominations this month.  Elk City community members Bob Newcomb, Dr. Keith Fuchs and Joe D. Hall were all tapped to serve by Gov. Stitt, with Jech carrying the nominations through the confirmation process.   David Dyson was also nominated by Gov. Stitt earlier this year, but his nomination did not require Senate confirmation.

Bob Newcomb has been confirmed to serve on the State Banking Board for a six year term, ending June 1, 2025.  Newcomb was born and raised in Clinton and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southwestern State University.  He is active in many Elk City civic groups and has worked as the Vice President and CFO of the Bank of Western Oklahoma for the past 29 years.  Before his reappointment this month, Newcomb had served three and half terms on the State Banking Board. 

Dr. Keith Fuchs has been confirmed to serve on the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for another five year term ending May 9, 2024.  Fuchs has been a practicing veterinarian for more than 33 years in Elk City and is also a member of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.   

Joe D. Hall was confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Board of Regents for Oklahoma State University for an eight year term, ending April 4, 2027.  He has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University and for the last 33 years, Hall has built and operated a family owned construction company while maintaining farming and ranching operations in the area.  Hall was first appointed by Gov. Brad Henry in 2003, reappointed by Gov. Mary Fallin in 2011 and reappointed again in 2019 by Gov. Kevin Stitt to serve on the Board of Regents for Oklahoma State University. 

David Dyson was nominated by Gov. Stitt earlier this year to serve on the Oklahoma Transportation Commission.   He will serve an unexpired term ending Feb. 15, 2021.  Dyson has a degree in Agricultural Business from Oklahoma State University and owns Barber-Dyson Ford Lincoln in Elk City.
