OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Roger Thompson, R-Okemah, has been appointed to serve on the Executive Committee of The Council of State Governments Southern Office (CSG South) for 2023.
CSG South is a nonprofit, nonpartisan member organization serving the southern legislatures of Alabama; Arkansas; Florida; Georgia; Kentucky; Louisiana; Mississippi; Missouri; North Carolina; Oklahoma; South Carolina, Tennessee; Texas; Virginia; and West Virginia. The Executive Committee serves as the Conference’s governing authority, and approves the annual budget of the Southern Office, among other responsibilities.
“I’m excited to have this opportunity to represent the Oklahoma Senate on the CSG South Executive Committee,” Thompson said. “The 15 southern states that make up this organization have much in common in terms of our economies, policy concerns and challenges. Collaborating with our fellow member states gives us the ability to build relationships and share solutions that will ultimately move all our states forward.”
Thompson was appointed by Oklahoma Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, who is the immediate past chair of the Executive Committee.
“Senator Thompson has consistently proven himself as a knowledgeable and seasoned leader, providing invaluable service for each of his committee and leadership appointments at the state, regional and national levels,” Treat said. “I’m grateful for his willingness to serve in this position and know he will do an outstanding job representing the Oklahoma Senate on the CSG South Executive Committee.”
Thompson’s appointment will run through Dec. 31, 2023.
