Sen. Taylor Comments on New Budget Estimate

This will make an already difficult budget situation even more difficult. I will continue to advocate that we shield education, health care and other vital services from any budget cuts. Because those programs make up a major share of the state budget, it will probably require us to make significant cuts in other state agencies in order to balance the budget.

In the days to come, I will be discussing the latest budget developments with my Senate colleagues, House leaders and Governor Keating in hopes of reaching a consensus on budget priorities. Hopefully, this will be the last bit of bad budget news we receive this year, but it is certainly possible that things could get worse in the months to come.
