Sen. Stanley tapped for additional committee work

State Sen. Brenda Stanley has been chosen for a new committee assignment for the 2020 legislative session.  Stanley, R-Midwest City, has been given a seat on the Senate Education Committee, tasked with addressing public policy legislation impacting education throughout the state. Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat announced Stanley’s appointment on Friday.

Stanley’s new committee assignment will be in addition to her work as a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, and the committees on Retirement and Insurance and the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.

Prior to her service in the State Senate, Stanley spent 43 years as a classroom teacher and administrator before working in higher education.  She said she looked forward to her new committee assignment.

“Excellence in education is key to building the best future possible for the state and our citizens,” Stanley said.  “I’m grateful for the opportunity to draw on my experience in the classroom and as an administrator as we work to promote and enhance education throughout Oklahoma.”
