Sen. Sharp visits local schools for Constitution Day

OKLAHOMA CITY – On Tuesday, Sen. Ron Sharp visited several schools in his Senate District to celebrate Constitution Day with local students.   The former history and government teacher said he enjoyed getting back in the classroom.

“This was a unique experience for me and I enjoyed returning to the classroom.  I love discussing history and government with students especially about our Constitution and what constitutional issues are being debated today,” said Sharp, R-Shawnee.  “These were extremely bright students, and I enjoyed getting their perspectives on constitutional issues.  It’s reassuring to see our youth so excited about their government and history.”

Sharp spoke to Dale, McLoud and Shawnee High School Advanced Placement American History and Government students relating the history and importance of America’s Constitution.

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by 39 brave men on September 17, 1787.  The document recognizes all who are born in the U.S. or by naturalization as citizens and describes their rights.
