Sen. Rosino Comments on Election of Pope Leo XIV

OKLAHOMA CITY- Sen. Paul Rosino, R-Oklahoma City, issued the following statement after Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected Pope on Thursday.

“This is a historic election as Pope Leo XIV is the first American to lead the Roman Catholic Church. His deep commitment to faith and service to those in need resonates not only within the Catholic community but across all of Oklahoma. It is particularly meaningful to us as Oklahomans that Pope Leo XIV has direct ties to our state, as he served on the Board of Directors at Cascia Hall in Tulsa. Also, while acting as Prior Provincial of the Augustinian Midwest Province, he frequently visited the state to foster relationships and contribute to the school and Catholic Church’s mission. His connection to Oklahoma is a source of pride for our state and exemplifies the far-reaching impact of his pastoral work. As Pope Leo XIV embarks on this new chapter, I join Oklahomans and people around the world in praying for his guidance, wisdom and continued dedication to fostering compassion within the global community.”
