OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Roland Pederson, R-Burlington, commended the Senate for voting this week to confirm the nomination of Dr. Michael Peck of Enid to serve on the Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO) board.
Pederson carried Peck’s nomination, noting his involvement in the Enid Community and service to the state. Peck practices optometry in Enid and has served as a commissioner of the Department of Human Services for more than a decade.
“Dr. Peck has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to our community through both his professional work in optometry and his years of service as a DHS commissioner,” Pederson said. “His leadership will be a strong asset to the RUSO board as it guides our regional universities, especially as it relates to strengthening workforce readiness. I am confident he will help ensure students are prepared to enter the workforce with the skills and training needed for quality, in-demand jobs across Oklahoma.”
RUSO governs six state public universities, including Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.
Peck’s confirmation fills a new position on the RUSO board. He will serve a nine-year term on the board through June 10, 2035.
