State Sen. Greg McCortney has been recognized by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau (OKFB) for his support of issues important to farmers, ranchers and rural Oklahoma during the 2017session.
“I was sent to the Senate to be a strong voice for the people of this district which includes many farmers and ranchers,” said McCortney, R-Ada. “There is a saying that’s very true—as rural Oklahoma goes, so goes Oklahoma. Our state’s future depends on keeping rural Oklahoma and our agriculture heritage strong.”
Legislators were scored on three measures, including Senate Bill 147 which gives municipalities the authority to waive the three-mile setback for concentrated animal feeding operations; Senate Bill 326 prohibits the importation and possession of exotic swine in Oklahoma; and Senate Bill 593, which closes a loophole dealing with the wind industry.
“Oklahoma Farm Bureau is thankful to have excellent representation as we continue to fight for our members at the state Capitol,” said Thom Buchanan, OKFB president. “We applaud these lawmakers for their efforts to protect agriculture and rural Oklahoma.”
“It is humbling to be honored for simply doing what I feel is the right thing for the people of Senate District 13, and it is an honor to represent my fellow citizens in the Oklahoma State Senate,” McCortney said.
