Sen. Kristen Thompson Named to The Journal Record’s “The Power List” for Top Leader in Workforce & Development

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Journal Record has named Senator Kristen Thompson (R-Edmond) to its 2025 “The Power List: Top Leaders in Workforce and Development,” recognizing her as one of the state’s most influential voices shaping Oklahoma’s economic and talent development.

Senator Thompson has become a key voice in statewide workforce strategy through her work as Chair of the Senate Economic Development, Workforce & Tourism Committee. Her legislative efforts emphasize modernized career pathways, high-demand workforce training, childcare capacity expansion for working families, and policies that strengthen alignment between education systems and employer needs. Among her major initiatives:

  • Senate Bill 1447, strengthening Oklahoma’s ability to attract and grow businesses.
  • Senate Bill 324, establishing a Research and Development Rebate program designed to launch Oklahoma’s innovation economy and retain our brightest minds at home.
  • Senate Bill 249 to strengthen the tourism and hospitality sectors — among the state’s largest and most dynamic industries.
  • Senate Bill 758 to ensure students in traditional public schools receive consistent in-person learning, offering parents and working families the stability of a reliable school calendar.

Senator Thompson emphasized her personal stake: as a business owner, wife, mother and fourth-generation Oklahoman, she wakes up every day focused on building a stronger, more competitive Oklahoma where hard work pays off and opportunity is endless.

“Every Oklahoman deserves the chance to build a good life, raise a family, and find success right here at home. I’m honored by this recognition from The Journal Record, and I remain committed to advancing policies that support working families, grow our economy, and strengthen the long-term prosperity of our state.”

Senator Thompson serves Senate District 22 (including Edmond, Arcadia, and northern Oklahoma County). Her recognition by The Journal Record underscores her dedication to job creation, workforce development, and economic growth statewide — priorities that help ensure Oklahoma’s best days are still ahead.
