OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City, will hold a town hall meeting this coming Thursday, Feb. 29, from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Bethany Public Library at 6700 N.W. 35th Street in Bethany. The focus of the meeting will be a housing policy update, although attendees are welcome to ask about other topics of interest.
“Everyone needs a home. Affordable housing, for renters and for those who would like to be homeowners, is still a huge problem. We’ll discuss Oklahoma’s eviction timeline and my legislation addressing this issue as well as ways to ensure balance in the process for both renters and landlords,” Kirt said. “There are many steps our state can take to increase housing stability and prevent homelessness, and I can’t wait to hear from constituents about their ideas and possible solutions.”
Kirt’s special guest for the town hall will be former state senator Angela Monson, the first woman in the Oklahoma Senate to serve as assistant floor leader. Monson currently is the outreach and legislative director for the Oklahoma Policy Institute, working for strong schools, thriving families and safe communities, and will be joined by members of the Oklahoma Policy Institute team.
“I sincerely hope everyone who is able will join us for this town hall as we update the residents of Senate District 30 about the 2024 legislative session and the policy issues impacting the lives of Oklahomans,” Kirt said. “I appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from the people I serve, which helps me be an even stronger voice on their behalf at the Capitol.”
