OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Jo Anna Dossett, D-Tulsa, has been named a 2025 Mental Health Champion by the Oklahoma Coalition of Advocates for Behavioral Health. Dossett received the honor at the Coalition’s annual My Mind Matters Day at the Capitol on Wednesday. Alongside fellow honorees Sen. Todd Gollihare, R-Kellyville, Rep. Daniel Pae, R-Lawton, and Rep. Melissa Provenzano, D-Tulsa, Dossett addressed the crowd.
“It’s an honor to be named alongside my colleagues from both chambers of the Legislature and both sides of the aisle today,” Dossett said, citing examples of bills they had all supported and helped advance together. “Together, we’ve made great strides at the Capitol when it comes to destigmatizing mental health issues and improving parity between mental health treatment and all other forms of healthcare, and we have a lot more work to do.”
Dossett and the other honorees together co-chair the Legislature’s Mental Health Caucus, a bipartisan and bicameral caucus that works to advance pro-mental health bills through the Legislature.
The Oklahoma Coalition of Advocates for Behavioral Health includes mental health and addiction advocates who advance their cause through partnership. Coalition members are organizations spanning the state with an interest in mental health and addiction. Their annual day at the Capitol provides lawmakers the opportunity to meet constituents and hear their concerns about mental health and substance abuse in Oklahoma.
