OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Shane Jett, R-Shawnee, joined award-winning Cheyenne Arapaho artist Nathan Pratt on Tuesday, May 13, for the unveiling of his “Firewheel” Pendleton blanket prototype at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
The “Firewheel” design pays homage to Oklahoma’s state wildflower, the Indian Blanket, known for its vibrant colors and deep symbolism of courage, endurance, and perseverance.
“We’re proud to host and honor an artist like Nathan Pratt, whose work reflects the strength, creativity, and deep heritage of Oklahoma’s Native communities,” Jett said. “The ‘Firewheel’ blanket is not just a beautiful piece of art, but a representation of our cultural heritage that carries stories of resilience and identity. It was a privilege to help showcase that here at the Capitol.”
During the event, Pratt spoke about the significance of the blanket and its symbolic connection to another major project he is currently fundraising for—a 50-foot statue honoring famed Oklahoma aviator Wiley Post, to be placed in Edmond.
Sen. Jett extended appreciation to the lawmakers, members of the public, media outlets, and other special guests who attended this event.
