Sen. Jech issues statement on U.S. Supreme Court ruling against Biden administration’s large business vaccine/testing mandates

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Darcy Jech, R-Kingfisher, issued the following statement on Friday after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Biden administration’s attempt to mandate vaccines and testing for employees of large businesses.

“The State of Oklahoma had a historical triumph on Thursday.  The Supreme Court ruling concerning a vaccine mandate for large businesses is a big win for the citizens of Oklahoma.  Many Oklahomans have been fearful of losing their jobs if the federal vaccine mandate were allowed to stand.

“I’ve have always believed the decision of whether to take a COVID vaccine should remain up to the individual. Thankfully, the U.S. Supreme Court rightfully rejected the president’s overreaching vaccine mandate. It’s a victory for both employees and employers. It also shows the state took the correct action of challenging federal overreach in the courts. We can take on these legal fights and win, and Oklahoma will continue to do so. I’m happy to say my colleagues and I in the state Senate supported giving an additional $10 million in funding in the Attorney General’s Office to defend Oklahomans from federal overreach, and it’s proving to be a worthwhile investment.  I want to thank Oklahoma Attorney General John O’Connor for his efforts in this endeavor.”
