OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Grant Green received his committee assignments for the 59th Legislature and will help lead the Senate Energy and Telecommunications Committee as Vice-Chair. In addition, Senate Pro Tempore Greg Treat appointed the Wellston Republican to serve on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Education Committees.
"I’m honored by Senate leadership’s confidence in my ability to help lead this important committee to oversee policy issues related to expanding broadband throughout Oklahoma, along with legislation related to our energy industries,” Green said. “Having grown up in rural Oklahoma, protecting and supporting our businesses is also very important to me, and our way of life. I really appreciate the opportunity to serve on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Education Committees as well.”
Green will also sit on the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, the newly created Senate Oversight Committee for the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES), and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
“These committees are also extremely important as one reviews agency rules to provide a much-needed system of checks and balances in our state government, and the other will oversee our largest state agency and Oklahoma’s nearly $2 billion in ARPA investments to ensure our state and federal tax dollars are being utilized efficiently,” Green said.
The Senate will convene on Jan. 3 for an organizational day, and the first session of the 59th Legislature will begin on Feb. 6. To learn more about Senator Green, please visit https://oksenate.gov/senators/grant-green.
