Sen. George Burns Honors FFA State Champion Jalyn Lundry on Senate Floor

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, welcomed Haworth FFA member Jalyn Lundry to the Oklahoma Senate on Tuesday, recognizing her exceptional accomplishments in agricultural education and public speaking.

Lundry, an 8th grade student at Haworth Public Schools, recently claimed the title of State Champion in the Oklahoma FFA Prepared Public Speaking Contest, capturing first place in the 8th Grade Agriculture Exploration Division. Her compelling, research-driven speech showcased her deep understanding of agriculture and her commitment to the future of the industry.

In addition to her state speech championship, Lundry also earned 5th place in the 8th–9th Grade FFA Opportunities Division, demonstrating her versatility and skill as a communicator.

“Jalyn Lundry is a shining example of the next generation of Oklahoma agricultural leaders and I applaud her success,” said Senator Burns. “Jalyn’s achievements speak volumes about her work ethic, intelligence and passion for agriculture. It was an honor to recognize her on the Senate floor and celebrate her bright future.”

Lundry’s accomplishments extend beyond public speaking. She also earned the title of State Champion in the Agriscience Fair in the Environmental Services/Natural Resource Systems Division 1, highlighting her dedication to environmental science and research excellence.

At the State FFA Convention, Lundry was further recognized with:

• 3rd Place – State FFA Proficiency in Specialty Animal Production
• 3rd Place – State FFA Auctioneering Career Development Event
• 5th Place – State 8th & 9th Grade FFA Opportunities Speech

Prepared Public Speaking remains one of the most challenging FFA events, requiring students to research, write and deliver speeches on critical agricultural issues. These achievements highlight the exceptional leadership development and academic excellence fostered at Haworth Public Schools.
