Sen. Boren congratulates State Auditor and Inspector on receiving highest rating possible by national association

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman, issued the following statement after the National State Auditors Association (NSAA) awarded the highest rating possible to the Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector’s Office (SAI) in its External Peer Review.

“I want to extend my congratulations to State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd for her leadership heading the State Auditor and Inspector’s Office – I believe that is reflected in this NSAA rating, and in the integrity and diligence in how she has conducted her office’s audits, including the investigative audit of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA). While she found no laws had been broken, she pointed to the need for the Legislature to enact guardrails, including addressing the need for competitive bidding for professional services as well as the need for other reforms.

“I appreciate her focus on Oklahoma taxpayers as she performs her duties and directs her staff in their work.”
