Sen. Bergstrom visits Home of Hope

State Senator Micheal Bergstrom visited the Home of Hope in Vinita this week, where he toured the facility and had the opportunity to see firsthand the various programs the organization has to offer.

Founded in 1968 by two mothers of children with Down syndrome, Home of Hope began rooted in a vision of the two women to find the best opportunities for their children as they grew into adults.   Almost 40 years later, Home of Hope is now a corporation serving people with developmental and other disabilities in six counties of northeastern Oklahoma, assisting in various employment, housing, and recreation programs. The organization operates with state and federal funding, and is supplemented with corporate and foundation grants, as well as support from private donors.

“Home of Hope is critical to the care and support of those in northeast Oklahoma with developmental disabilities throughout our district, including the communities of Vinita, Claremore, Pryor, Jay, and Miami,” said Bergstrom, R-Adair.  “As the largest employer in Craig County, Home of Hope provides crucial services to many in need and I’m proud to serve them as a part of my district.”
