Sen. Bergstrom participates in law enforcement policy interim study

State Sen. Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, recently participated in a Senate interim study that brought experts and other state lawmakers together to share ideas on how to improve law enforcement practices across the state.

A member of the public safety committee, Bergstrom said supporting law enforcement officers should be a top priority moving forward.

“We must always support law enforcement, and part of that support is to find ways we can help them better do their jobs,” Bergstrom said. “This study was a great way for us to take a deep dive into issues facing our peace officers and what we can do as far as legislation to strengthen relationships between our officers and the community, restructure police training and raise law enforcement standards.”

Legislation for the 2021 legislative session, which will begin Feb. 1, must be filed by Jan. 21.
