The energy industry is one of the key pillars of Oklahoma’s economy and Senator Mark Allen has planned an energy summit at the Oklahoma Capitol to hear directly from the industry on the positive impact it has on the state’s economy.
“The energy industry always has been and always will be a major driver to the Oklahoma economy. All Oklahomans should want the energy sector to succeed, because as oil and gas goes, so too goes our economy,” said Allen, R-Spiro. “This meeting will give lawmakers and the public a chance to hear from energy-related companies about the tremendous financial impact on our state, especially in rural Oklahoma.”
Senator Allen, chair of the Senate Energy Committee, will hold the meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 22 in room 535 at the Oklahoma Capitol. Because of other Senate activities, original meeting plans had to be adjusted, so Monday’s schedule will include speakers from the oil and gas and coal industries, and Senator Allen plans to feature other energy-related industries in a second meeting to be held shortly with the same purpose.
Senate and House members have been invited to attend, along with leaders from various sectors related to energy.
